MERA Project
Final Report
MERA final
report, May 2004 [2.6MB]
About MERA
Innovation in virtually all-scientific and
technological fields often depends on the ability to make leading edge
measurements. The MERA project developed the plans to optimise and increase
significantly the impact of the underpinning European metrology research and
exploitation effort by strengthening the coherence of national and EU funded
activities. This in turn, will facilitate growth and competitiveness in Europe
in all fields. The aim of the MERA project was to intensify current EUROMET
research cooperation and lay the foundations for an integrated European
Research Area (ERA) in metrology.
The work plan of
the project is available.
The project started on 1 September 2002 and ran until
November 2003. The seven project partners were the National Metrology
Institutes from the UK (NPL, the coordinator), the Netherlands (NMi-VSL),
Germany (PTB), Ireland (NML-EI), Sweden (SP), the Czech Republic (CMI) and
Switzerland (METAS). The partners are supported by a further four NMIs from
France (BNM), Denmark (DFM), Italy (IMGC) and Norway (JV) who provide expertise
and breadth to the project steering committee. More
documents on the MERA Project are available.
