Regional Metrology Organisations (RMO's)
The metrological world is represented by several
regional metrology groupings, who have similar aims and objectives to EUROMET.
They are:
- APMP (Asia Pacific Metrology Programme)
- COOMET (Cooperation in Metrology among the Central European
countries)
- SADCMET (Southern African Development Community Cooperation
in Measurement Traceability)
- SIM (Sistema Interamericano de Metrologia), including
NORAMET (North American Metrology Cooperation)
Each regional group (RMO) is assuming the
responsibility for "vertical traceability" and equivalence within its own area.
Each RMO also coordinates input and policy in relation to the BIPM MRA.
European Bodies
These are other European organisations that complement
the activities of EUROMET. They are:
- CEOC (European Confederation of Organisations
for Testing, Inspection, Certification and Prevention) - a voluntary group of
organisations for testing, technical inspection, certification of products and
Quality Management Systems and risk prevention.
- EA (European cooperation for
Accreditation) for mutual recognition of certificates for calibration and test
services.
- Eurachem - a network of organisations in
Europe having the objective of establishing a system for the international
traceability of chemical measurements and the promotion of good quality
practices.
- EUROLAB - the European Federation of National
Associations of Measurement, Testing and Analytical Laboratories
- WELMEC (European Cooperation for Legal
Metrology) for the field of legal metrology, etc.
International Bodies
- BIPM (Bureau Internationale des Poids et Mesures)
provides the basis for a single, coherent system of measurements throughout the
world, traceable to the International System of Units (SI)
- OIML (International Organization of Legal Metrology)
promotes the global harmonization of legal metrology procedures.
Non-EUROMET NMIs
Other Bodies
- NCSLI (National Conference of Standards Laboratories
International) promotes cooperative efforts for solving the common problems
faced by measurement laboratories.
- NORDTEST is concerned with technical testing in the Nordic
region
